What customization can be applied to cards and postcards?

Cards are dynamic and have a lot of flexibility. Therefore, different designs can be applied to them. Examples include embossing and foil stamp. These two are used to create a solid and beautiful effect on the cards. Metallic ink is also similar to these two. Die cuts are for making the cards in a specific shape. Scratch-off postcards and rip cards are other common special effects.

What is the difference between embossing and foil stamp?

Embossing: This is a method for adding depth and perspective to your cards. When applied, the design is seen risen. This rise on the paper surface gives a dimension to it that makes it tactile. This can also be finished of using special dyes to create a design on the card. Embossing is used for inserting elements such as logos, stamps, texts, etc.
Foil Stamp: Similar to embossing, foil stamp is used for adding a pop up on the cards. This is accomplished by applying pressure to heated dyes which makes the colours stick to it. This gives the part of the card or book an extra noticeable layer. The heated dyes create a foil that attaches permanently to the card that appears shiny. Foil stamps are commonly used for adding a seal or stamp to cards.

What are the other useful custom designs?

Metallic Ink: This is a fantastic alternative that you can use in case you do not want to use foil stamping. The shiny properties are lesser than what you would get with foil stamp. However, it gives you a gentle reflection that enhances your cards beautifully. They are attention-grabbing and more affordable when compared to foil stamping.
Die Cuts: These are used for cutting a standard rectangular postcard into different shapes. You can use this to give a unique shape that goes with your brand or campaign. Die cuts utilise a sharp blade that is already shaped into specific forms. This can come in handy when you intend to add fun to your cards.
Scratch Off Postcards: This is used for concealing a part of the card using foil until it is scratched off. Scratch off postcards is used for credit cards. The digits are hidden under the foil and are only visible when the owner scratches it off. You can also use this for new campaigns where gifts can be hidden under the foil. This tactic keeps your audience anxious until they finally reveal what they have on their cards.
Tear/Rip Cards: Tear or rip cards are postcards that are perforated and returned back to you. They are used for giving you audience a unique offer. With this, it is easy to monitor and increase your customers' engagement with your brand. It is a unique way of getting the information directly to the customer.
